Meet Our Instructors
Adrienne

Adrienne Lewis

Adrienne Lewis grew up in Vermillion.  She fell in love with dance after becoming involved in summer musicals.  This inspired her to begin taking formal dance training.  From middle school through high school, Adrienne spent every moment possible in the dance studio.  Thanks to her sweet mother, Pam Kadous, she took classes in Yankton, Vermillion, and even spent a summer in San Jose California attending a summer ballet workshop.  For three years Adrienne performed solo routines at the recitals in Vermillion.

Adrienne is now a mother of four and pursuing a degree in nursing.  She is pleased to be able to pass on her love for the art of ballet and her precise attention to technique to the next generation.

Grace

Grace Freeman

Grace Freeman has been clog dancing since 1991 when she joined the Cripple Creek Cloggers in Madison, Wisconsin. She performed with the cloggers at fairs and in parades around Madison. Grace was also a part of the Backporch Cloggers in Bradenton, Florida performing at fairs around the area. Besides clogging, Grace loves Irish dancing and belonged to an Irish dance troupe in Florida. Clog dancing has roots in Irish dance and occassionally Grace will teach some Irish dance steps in her classes. Heart and Soul Cloggers have been dancing in Vermillion for four years now and have performed at Nursing homes, churches and at the Vermillion Area Arts Fest.
Three of the Heart and Soul Cloggers will help beginners learn the basic steps at the classes at the Heart and Soul dance studio.
We will be dancing to a variety of music including: bluegrass, African, country, rock n' roll, and Christmas music. Grace is used to clogging with large groups of people and encourages all ages and all levels to participate in this down home dance style. It's great exercise and loads of fun!

Devin Basart

Hi everyone! I'm super excited to be a part of the crew at Heart and Soul Dance and Fitness Center.  I will be a junior in the BFA Musical Theatre program at USD.  In the past I have had seven years of previous dance experience at Midwest Dance Center in Sioux Falls, SD.  I am true Sioux Falls civilian and I attended the highly lauded Roosevelt High School.  I was part of the Roosevelt Marching Band, the Roosevelt Rough Riders, and was a happy member of the color guard family, of which I was a part of for three years.  I have experience in Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballroom and a little bit of Modern.  I am very excited to meet everyone and I am also happy to be teaching what I love to do!!

Teniesha Kessler

Teniesha A. Kessler is a junior at the University of South Dakota and has been a member of Heart & Soul Fitness since the autumn of 2009. Fortunate to have been raised in an alternative household, Teniesha was first exposed to Yoga at age eight and has since harboured a love for all things related to Indian culture. While she also enjoys running, biking, hiking, and a number of other fitness activities, she feels that Yoga best nurtures her body, mind, and soul, restoring a healthy balance in her daily life and promoting positive skills for lifetime learning.
